About Oregano
The name "Oregano" originally comes from a Grecian word that means "joy of the mountains" because it was used as a cure against depression. The Oregano herb was used by the Greeks and throughout the Roman Empire as a cure for many ailments.
Wild Mediterranean Oregano oil is widely known to be an antiseptic, anti-bacterial agent and a natural antibiotic.
Researchers have reported that oregano oil also has anti-inflammatory compounds and, furthermore, is an antioxidant. It also possesses antispasmodic components. This means that it could obliterate tightness and spasms of the muscles such as leg-cramps so it is extremely good as massage oil. Just mix it in a base oil, such as olive, avocado, jojoba, coconut or almond oil.
The Ancient Greeks were amongst the first to take advantage of Oregano Oil's medicinal qualities. They termed the herb "Oregano", meaning "joy of the mountain".
Our Oregano oil is extracted solely from wild Mediterranean Oregano shrubs, which have been hand-picked, and grown naturally without chemicals.
Wild Oregano is rich in a long list of minerals and nutrients, including calcium, magnesium, zinc, iron, potassium and manganese, along with Vitamins A and B, and niacin.
Researchers have also shown that the oregano oil contains isomeric phenols (primarily Carvacrol) which destroy Candida Albicans, Staphylococcus, E.Coli, Proteus, and can help in infections related to the prostate. Another phenol, Thymol, boosts the immune system. These compounds also act as free radical scavengers (shielding you against toxins), and so prevent further tissue damage while encouraging healing.
Oregano oil is antiviral, antibacterial, antifungal and antiparasitic.
It also has strong antioxidant qualities, serving extraordinarily well as antihistamines and decongestants. Furthermore, Wild Oregano may halt your next allergy attack in its tracks. It can work well as a natural remedy against fungal infections.
We do stress however, to always refer to your doctor first.
